Toby’s Dream Foundation Helps One Teen Live a Fashion Dream

But things are looking up. She’s in remission and feeling good again, good enough to visit New York City courtesy of Toby’s Dream Foundation, which fulfills wishes for children in the Hampton Bays, Va., area. The visit, which was organized by Peerless Clothing, afforded the teen the opportunity to visit with several high-profile fashion designers during her family’s visit to New York City. “I want to be a fashion designer when I grow up,” she said, clutching her sketch book filled with designs for girls and teens. “I like to see fashion and go shopping.”During her time in New York, Hieb visited with Elie Tahari, who gave her a private tour of his studio and showroom, as well as the Fashion Institute of Technology costume collection and the fashion closets at Vogue. Michael Kors sat with her for 30 minutes and gave her an autographed leather bag that said she was “talented and stylish.” The visit was capped off with a stop by Nanette Lepore, who gave her a dress from the Project Runway collection, a visit to the set of the television show for a taping, and a one-on-one with Isaac Mizrahi before she headed home.So what did she find most memorable? “I can’t decide. They’re all so cool,” she said. “But what I don’t understand is why the cars here honk all the time.”
