Tre-Shyne, age 14, has wanted a gaming system for years. In fact, his parents were planning to get him one last Christmas, but their world came crashing down when, weeks before the holiday, Tre-Shyne was diagnosed with cancer.
Months of chemo, radiation, a transplant, and a second type of chemo left his immune system stripped down to nothing, leaving him unable to socialize with friends or have too many public outings. “At 13, your life is just beginning as a teenager. He didn’t get to do 8th grade prom. School had just started. He was away from all of his friends,” his mother told us. “Every obstacle was thrown at him,” she said, “but he knocked it down.”
We were not surprised to learn that Tre-Shyne wanted to use his Dream for a new gaming system and accessories. “It’s a great way for him to connect with his friends,” his mother shared. Along with the computer, Tre-Shyne was given a gaming chair and shelving for his games and Legos (many of which he collected from our friends at Kaylee’s Legacy during his treatment).
“The gaming system has helped him a lot,” his mother told us. “Getting the gaming the system was the icing on top for him – like opening up the best present you could ever get. This made him a kid all over again. He interacts with his friends now – it’s just amazing. It brought me tears of joy. Thank you so much for all you do to make every Toby’s Dream come true.”
Tre-Shyne told his mother from the beginning of his diagnosis, “Mom – don’t worry, I’m going to beat this.” And he has held on to that promise, as his latest scans show no signs of cancer!
We are so happy Tre-Shyne has found a way to be a kid and connect with his friends again. We know he will be back to living life to its fullest before he knows it! We are thankful for our partnership with #ChartwayPromiseFoundation for helping to fund this Dream for Tre-Shyne.
